| Abstract: | The Northeast Atlantic Ocean (NEA) is a most important region for Russian deepsea fisheries. In 2003 the catch taken by the Russian fishing fleet was about 862000 tons, so conservation of rational fisheries in this region is in our national interests. It is within respective working groups that the ongoing work of the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) is conducted in drafting advice for stock assessment and for the levels of TAC for fishing species in NEA. Until recently, the results obtained by the working groups were evetually analyzed and verified within the ICES Advisory Committee for Fisheries Management which actually worded scientific recommendations for international fisheries. Beginning from last year, this logical system, which proved its working ability throughout decades, comprised an additional element of reviewing by groups of independent experts. |
