Abstract:
The issues of sea fishing stock management and fishery regulations in general are becoming increasingly important in recent years. It results from the adoption of many international fishery agreements aimed at transition to sustainable responsible fisheries. It is also connected with the depressed condition of many fish stocks globally.
Accordingly, it is becoming a prority issue for the world scientific research effort to develop respective techniques ensuring dependable assessment of fishery resources, and advice for their utilization.
The paper reviews the evolution of stock assessment and TAC setting methods, as based on ICES example. Besides, the authors show the scheme for contemporary ways to address those.
